Easter Festival: “Quatuor for the end of time” at Camp des Milles

Easter Festival Quatuor for the end of time at Camp

For its 9th edition, the Easter Festival of Aix-en-Provence invites itself for the first time to the Camp des Milles, the only large French internment and deportation camp still intact. A concert-event will take place: Quartet for the end of time by Olivier Messiaen, composed under similar circumstances.

Written in a Silesian prison camp in the winter of 1941, this vast fresco was created by his comrades in captivity then playing on patched up instruments.

The Quatuor pour la fin du temps by Olivier Messiaen will be performed on April 11 at the Camp des Milles as part of the Aix-en-Provence Easter Festival which runs until April 24. A concert broadcast live and free of charge onfestivalpaques.com

With more than 800 artists over nearly three weeks, the Aix-en-Provence Easter Festival in the south of France has become an international reference in classical music.
