Thanks to Tiny11builder and an official Windows ISO image, you can create in a few minutes a version of Windows 11 stripped of all superfluous elements and working even on old PCs.
We’ve been talking to you on CCM about Tiny11 for several weeks now. This tweaked and lightened version of Windows 11 capable of running the Microsoft system on slightly old PCs without the famous TPM 2.0 chip without which, however, the official version of the publisher cannot be installed. A version stripped of many superfluous elements which weigh down Windows unnecessarily and which is content with a ridiculous configuration (2 GB of RAM, 8 GB of disk space) to run comfortably. A few days ago, its developer, known under the pseudonym of NTDEV, made available online a video allowing everyone to create their own light and personalized version of Windows 11 to install it on any PC ( read our article). Without the slightest audio explanation, this video, which is both complete but not very didactic, can cool the ardor of the more adventurous. Since then it also offers Tiny11builder for free. These are scripts that allow you to build a version of Windows to your liking in no time. The little extra, to achieve this, no need to download an obscure version of the system on the Web. The operation is carried out from a completely official ISO image of Windows since you will have to recover it from the Microsoft site. In this way, you will avoid the risk of repatriating a modified and possibly corrupted version of Windows. You can then use this image to install Windows 11 on an old PC or even within a virtual machine. Please note that you will still need a license key to activate the system.
How to create a custom Windows 11 disk image with Tiny11builder?
Building your own version of Windows 11 couldn’t be simpler. All you need is an official system ISO image and the Tiny11builder script. Then, you can choose, à la carte, the elements to keep in order to obtain the Windows that suits you.
► Start by downloading the Windows 11 disk image from the Microsoft site. Go for it on the page set up by the publisher. Scroll down the page to the Windows 11 Disc Image (ISO) Download section. Choose Windows 11 (Multi-edition ISO) and click on Download. You can also follow the advice of our practical sheet to repatriate Windows 11 from the Microsoft Media Creation Tool.
► While the Windows ISO image is downloading, also repatriate the Tiny11builder script.
► Once the Windows 11 ISO image is downloaded, double-click the file to mount it.
► Now unpack the Zip archive of Tiny11builder. Right click on the file Tiny11 creator 22621.525.bat. This file corresponds to the version of Windows 11 that you downloaded from the Microsoft site. From the menu that appears, choose Execute as administrator.
► A blue alert window appears on the screen. This is the Windows malware protection tool. Click on the link Further information.
► In the next window, click on Run anyway.
► The script starts. You are prompted for the image of the drive where the Windows 11 image is mounted. Open File Explorer to find out. In our case, it is the reader F. Enter the corresponding letter in the command window and validate with Entrance.
► After a few seconds, you must choose the edition of Windows corresponding to the version you wish to modify and install. Locate its index number and enter it. Validate by Entrance.
► The script is then implemented. It starts by mounting the image and then checks it.
► It then removes all unnecessary elements that you can see scrolling on the screen as the script runs. The operation may take several minutes.
► To complete the operation, the script unmounts the newly created disk image and saves it before exporting it.
► Finally, it builds a bootable disk image which, again, may require several minutes of work.
► At the end of the process, the new disk image in ISO format is available. By default, it is saved in the Tiny11builder folder where the scripts are stored and is called Tiny11.iso. Press any key on the keyboard to end the script.
► It only remains to make this image a bootable USB key with free software such as Rufus for example as we in our practical sheet in order to install your Windows “light” on the PC you want.
