Earthquake in Turkey and Syria: more than 7 million children affected
” Children and families in Turkey and Syria are facing unimaginable hardship as a result of these devastating earthquakes. We must do everything in our power to ensure that everyone who survived this disaster receives life-saving assistance, including clean water, sanitation, essential nutrition and health supplies, and support for children’s mental health. Not only now, but also in the long term UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said in a statement. UNICEF teams on the ground worked with partners to distribute essential supplies such as health products, blankets, clothing, drinking water and sanitation products, while continuing to provide safe spaces for children to play and recover from traumatic events they have witnessed. They are currently living in a dire situation. Indeed, some children no longer have a home, no family and are sometimes separated from their siblings.
