Earthquake in Afghanistan aid reaches victims terrified by aftershocks

Rescuers continue their search in the rubble of stricken villages in Afghanistan, Monday October 9, for the third day in a row. The earthquake that struck the northwest of the country on Saturday left nearly 2,500 dead and hundreds injured, according to a latest provisional report. Entire villages were razed, the mud houses not having withstood the violent tremors. Help, which was slow in reaching the victims, seems to have finally been put in place.
