Protecting the oceans, reducing your carbon footprint, composting… Do you want to act for the planet on your own scale? Here are 5 apps to download to go green.

    Moovance

Launched a few months ago, this French app offers to support you in your transition to soft mobility. All you have to do is connect to the app, which will automatically geolocate the modes of transport used by the user in real time, in order to help them reduce their carbon emissions. “This application is primarily aimed at French people wishing to reduce their carbon footprint in a significant and fun way during their journeys”says founder Anas Mbasso.

Each effort to reduce its carbon footprint will be rewarded with “Mooves” points, which can be transformed into donations for the benefit of associations or converted into advantages with the application’s partner companies (including SNCF and Cityscoot).

At the moment, the application provides information on the use of transport such as bicycles, scooters, motorcycles and kick scooters. However, it should open up to other vehicles from June, in particular cars, buses, trams… as well as the TGV and walking!

    I Clean My Sea

Established in the Basque Country, “I Clean my Sea” was launched by a start-up at the end of 2020. The principle? Launch a free application to organize the collection of plastics at sea thanks to the geolocation of photos. To use it, just take a picture of the trash floating in the ocean through the app.

The sailors will then be able to have access to the geolocation of the photograph in order to travel with their ship The Collector to collect the waste in question. For the moment based in the Basque Country, the company I Clean My Sea founded by Aymeric Jouon hopes to develop internationally.

    Citizen Wave

Initially launched in 2019 for companies, the application has evolved and now offers a version for individuals wishing to begin their ecological transition. “Acting and learning about initiatives around sustainable development”. This is the idea of this collaborative application, whose interface resembles that of a social network. On “Citizen Wave”you can indeed interact with other users, exchange tips or even glean advice for making your own cosmetic products.

    my little planet

What could be better than spicing up your ecological transition a little by setting yourself challenges? This is precisely the concept of “My Little Planet”, a game that consists of taking up challenges and working as a team! Available online or directly via the application, it offers to oppose two teams made up of six to twenty-four players.

The objective is to score as many points as possible over three weeks, by taking up a whole series of challenges (planting a tree in your garden or that of an acquaintance, discovering a local product, cycling to work, etc.). Players have the option of creating their own league or joining an existing one. And no cheating! Each challenge must be validated by the publication of a photo on the application.

    ShareWaste

Created in 2019 by a couple from Sydney, “ShareWaste” is based on a personal observation in which many of you will probably recognize yourself: using compost when you live in an apartment is not an easy task. To remedy this, Eli Bramborova and Tomas Brambora have imagined an app that would allow you to get in touch with a neighbor who already practices the art of compost and who would be “ready to accept additional waste”, specifies the application. A map allows you to geolocate the compost points closest to your home.
