Destiny 2 has made extensive changes to weapons to provide more balance as we head into the new Lightfall DLC. To this end, two overpowering weapons that dominated everything in PvP will be nerfed early tomorrow. But that’s not enough. MeinMMO tells you which weapons are also far too dominant.
What are the adjustments? In October 2022, Bungie set about overhauling some weapon types in Destiny 2. For this purpose, extensive weapon tunings were brought into play in Update 6.2.5 in the middle of Season 18, which should balance your PvP game.
At that time, Bungie also announced 2 exotic nerfs for the overpowered and PvP dominating exo-linear fusion rifles “Arbalest” and “Lorentztrieb”. However, it was not certain whether the update would go online at the start of Season 19 or earlier.
On November 4th, Bungie surprisingly announced on Twitter that they didn’t want to wait any longer with the nerfs. The Reign of Terror of the Linear Fusion Rifles will be ended early and tomorrow in Hotfix 6.2.5.3 brought into play. That’s about 4 weeks before the start of the new Season 19.
The adjustments were long overdue. Still, that won’t be enough to restore balance to the Crucible. Other weapons are also far too dominant in PvP at the moment and the players, like Kujay, also demand the necessary nerfs here.
3 other exo-weapons still remain too powerful
The two nerfs to the Arbalest and Lorentz Drive exotic linear fusion rifles are a step towards a balanced meta in PvP. But it took too long to get those nerfs in game.
In addition, there are currently 3 other exo-weapons in PvP in Destiny 2 that are far too powerful. However, Bungie has not yet considered any nerfs for them and this could become a new problem.
The player Kujay lists two Exotics on Twitter, which are also currently too dominant in PvP. And his followers are also demanding a third adjustment:
Why should these weapons also be nerfed? The Exo Arc “Le Monarque has become an incredibly powerful option in PvP. If you combine it with a handgun in PvP, you can easily achieve quick and nasty combo kills. Enemy Guardians take 8x Nachick damage from the poison.
The hunter exotic “Oath of Allegiance”, which allows you to keep your bow infinitely drawn, does the rest for dominance in PvP. This guarantees that the poison damage can always ignite.
Dead Messenger is an Exotic Grenade Launcher in the Energy slot.
The radius of the bump created is so large that players in PvP simply shoot in the general direction of enemies to get a kill. Each wave deals 130 damage each and is much more consistent compared to regular wave grenade launchers.
Those who earn the catalyst in the “Vox Obscura” mission also benefit from a practical overshield and can also break through an enemy Guardian’s shield while they are using their Super.
In our guide we show you how to get the weapon and the catalyst:

The No Time to Explain Pulse Rifle is also a constant presence in PvP. While there’s consensus in the PvP community that the nerf doesn’t have to be huge, it would still be necessary.
Mainly because the weapon’s time-to-kill time is too strong – at any range. If you then combine a Warlock Rift, you can dominate any PvP map with the weapon. Bungie should therefore slightly increasing the recoil on No Time To Explain for more balance.
These weapon changes have also been announced: In addition to the nerfs for “Arbalest” and “Lorentz Drive”, which go live tomorrow, Bungie has also planned other adjustments.
What do you think of the required adjustments? Do you think it needs more nerfs that provide more balance? Or are you saying the real evils of PvP in Seasons 18 and 19 will be ability spam and one-shot abilities? Please let us know what you think about these nerfs and Crucible balance.
