Early intervention is very important Untreated it can lead to

Giving advice to parents about circumcision age, hypospadias and epispadias, Pediatric Surgery Specialist Prof. Dr. Melih Tugay said, “When hypospadias is not treated, it can lead to sexual problems in the future and conditions such as the downward curve of the penis when it gets an erection. Hypospadias can be seen in one of 250 boys,” he said.

Tugay, who also shared information about Epispadias disease, said, “Epispadias disease is the opening of the urethra in any place up to the penis instead of the normal penile tip (glans) in newborn boys. Epispadias disease, which is 5 times more common in men, can be seen in approximately one in 30 thousand births. Epispadias is a difficult and complex disease.

EARLY INTERVENTION IS IMPORTANT

prof. Dr. Brigay stated that early intervention is very important in this anomaly and said:

“When the child is born, a detailed physical examination is performed to detect and diagnose it at the first examination. The child with abdominal ultrasonography is also checked for congenital defects in the urinary tract system. If the frontal bone, called the symphysis pubis, is separated in babies, it is easier to get the bone closer by taking the surgery within the first 24 hours.

TREATMENT METHOD OF HYPOSPADIAS

Commenting on the treatment methods of anomalies, Prof. Dr. Melih Tugay said, “Hypospadias disease can be corrected with surgery. In hypospadias disease, surgical intervention should be performed before the baby learns its sexual identity. It can be done at the same time as the circumcision so that the baby does not have a second surgery. Since the operation is a day surgery, the patient can be discharged on the same day. Epispadias treatment is started after deciding which epispadias disease the patient will have to be operated on and how many operations will be performed. In the treatment of epispadias disease, it is aimed to bring the external genital organ to its normal functioning in terms of shape and function.

HOW TO FIX A PREVIOUS FAILED SURGERY?

Pediatric Surgeon Prof. Dr. Melih Tugay underlined that the diagnosis of hypospadias and epispadias should be made as a result of the correct evaluation and the treatment should be carried out by a specialist doctor. He stated that renewing a failed hypospadias surgery can be a difficult operation even for experienced doctors.

ATTENTION MOTHERS AND FATHERS

In this regard, Prof. Dr. Melih Tugay concluded his speech by emphasizing that congenital disorders that may occur in babies should be treated promptly. (DHA)
