It was 1997 as a Swede Eagle-Eye Cherry went on to become an international world star with the song “Save tonight” which has now been streamed over 500 million times on Spotify.
Now, when over 25 years have passed since the monster hit saw the light of day, Eagle-Eye Cherry is one of the artists of So Much Better 2023.
He is then joined by, among others Ellen Krauss, Peg Parnevik, Lasse Holm, Doggy Doggelito, Jonathan Johnson, Sanne Salomonsen and Mapei. And it is precisely the latter who interpreted Eagle-Eye’s biggest hit “Save tonight”.

Eagle-Eye Cherry: “Standed and cried in the shower”
But the success of “Save tonight” came with a flip side. Among other things, the hit song Eagle-Eye Cherry cost his then relationship with Helena of Sandeberg and he has told on several occasions how the attention eventually became too much.
– I remember how I almost stood and cried in the shower because I couldn’t bear it. I was so fucking mad. And I realized that no one, not even my manager with whom I had a good relationship, but myself is looking out for my best. I began to feel abandoned, he has said SvD earlier.

Eagle-Eye Cherry chose to take a step back and he now lives a much quieter life, touring on his own terms.
– It has been perfect. I have been able to go abroad and play rock star and then come home and make an appointment at the laundromat, he told SvD.
And even if he hasn’t been in the same kind of spotlight as in 1997, his career has certainly taken off – something that is also noticeable in the 55-year-old’s finances.
In 2022, Eagle-Eye Cherry had a determined earned income of SEK 2,208,100, according to documents from Tax Agency as News24 took part in. In the same year, he had a surplus of capital of SEK 450,918.
