With a seemingly harmless tweet, the famous publisher Electronic Arts (Apex Legends, Battlefield, FIFA) has made the internet its enemy. Less than 140 characters were enough to stun even your own employees.
This is what EA says: While rumors about the sale of Electronic Arts (EA) are doing the rounds, the giant publisher is making a big faux pas.
EA’s official Twitter account posted a tweet trying to follow a trend. In the form of an otherwise harmless meme, one employee tweeted, “You’re a 10 but only like single player games.”
The 10 means a rating for the attractiveness of a counterpart. People rate people on a scale of 1-10. In the corresponding meme they find the perfect partner, just a 10, but have a shortcoming that ruins everything. In this case: single player games.
EA has already caused a lot of resentment among single-player fans by not having a campaign in Battlefield 2042. Now the latest tweet is getting a lot of ridicule, even from studio employees who are themselves part of EA.
Battlefield 2042 is considered an absolute disaster. The studio should be saved with the first season:

How the internet reacts: The tweet quickly garnered tens of thousands of replies, quotes and retweets. Among them are well-known names such as the journalist Paul Tassi, the streamers JackSepticEye and Gladd or the well-known YouTuber VideogameDunkey.
Where there were mainly cynical answers or even questionable comments, such as: “How are your tweets even worse than your games?” Respawn Entertainment boss Vince Zampella (title picture) only reacts with an emote that shows a person , who slaps her forehead:
Respawn develops Apex Legends, the popular battle royale distributed by EA. Apex Legends was a huge hit at its surprise release in 2019 and is still widely played.
The developers support it with new seasons and regularly bring new videos with story to the game:
Zampella is not the only developer under EA who is upset about the tweet:
A former employee of Visceral Studios also complained (via Twitter.com). EA had closed the studio and reportedly laid off around 100 employees.
Insider says: EA doesn’t care what players want – what matters is what they pay for
Here’s how EA reacts: The EA Twitter account responded to the criticism again. The new tweet reads: “Mockery well deserved. We take the loss because single player games would actually make someone an 11.”
However, the attempted rescue only works to a limited extent. Many single player games have a large fan base and even many multiplayer games and MMOs like to be played solo. We even have a whole list of games suitable for solo play:
