Road users who are stuck in long queues after the snow and slippery chaos on the E4 between Jönköping and Huskvarna may be forced to spend the night in their vehicles.

“The Swedish Traffic Agency is working hard to solve the traffic jam together with the emergency services, police and rescue workers. There is a risk that the work will take all night,” says Göran Melin, deputy rescue manager at the rescue service in Jönköping municipality, in a press release.

The rescue service is out with, among other things, tracked vehicles and four-wheelers to rescue people who are stuck. The intention of the effort is to be able to ensure that those stuck in their vehicles can get fluids and heat and also have any medical needs met.

“We want those in need to signal to the emergency services when we move in the queue with four-wheelers. Those who need urgent help should contact 112,” says Göran Melin.

Plow trucks are also working intensively in the area to make the road passable.

The emergency services also urge road users not to venture out into traffic during the night unless it is absolutely necessary.
