A major event has been lost in the gaming industry. The E3 Fair, which is held every year in Los Angeles, has been cancelled. As a result of the cancellation of the event, which is considered as one of the biggest events in the game world, where big companies exhibit their upcoming games and where independent companies bring their products together with publishers, Gamescom is the only event that can be considered as big.
The event, which was announced to be held on 13-16 June 2023, was quietly canceled yesterday. Although the industry’s failure to recover after the pandemic is cited as the reason, we think the main reasons underlying the cancellation of the event are quite different.
Troubles began after the regulator, ESA, handed over the event to Reedpop. The company, which organizes many events such as NewYork Comic Con, EGX, MCM Comic Con, has recently distanced itself from followers and the press, and achieved very low visitor rates at the last EGX event.
In addition, the fact that companies prefer to organize their own events with smaller budgets instead of investing millions of dollars and participating in the fair shows that there is no need for a fair like E3 anymore.
