€10 co-op game is now the best-selling on Steam, overtaking even Counter-Strike 2 and Cyberpunk 2077

Lethal Company quickly became the new co-op hit on Steam. Now, after just five weeks, it has overtaken all other games to reach the top of the Steam charts.

Lethal Company reaches the top: After just 5 weeks, the cooperative horror game Lethal Company reached the top of the Steam charts. This means that its sales figures have even overtaken major titles such as EA SPORTS FC 24, Counter-Strike 2, Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemtion 2.

These have been in the Steam charts for over 20 weeks, with Counter-Strike 2 even being there for an impressive 590 weeks.

As part of the Steam sale, FC 24, Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemtion 2 are currently available much cheaper, but their sales figures are still behind the new indie hit.

Just under a week ago, Lethal Company was at number 3 on the Steam charts.

Lethal Company is also overtaking in player numbers

The fact that Lethal Company, as a game from a single developer, made it to the top of the Steam charts so quickly this year seems quite surprising at first glance. After all, the year 2023 has already produced big titles like Diablo IV, Starfield and Baldur’s Gate 3.

A similar phenomenon could be observed a few years ago with the other horror games Phasmophobia and Dead by Daylight. It remains to be seen whether Lethal Company will experience a similar level of hype as these two predecessors.

With almost 184k at the same time last month, it has already overtaken its predecessors in terms of the number of players by 80k.

The co-op hit can’t just be found at the top of the Steam charts

Lethal Company seems to meet exactly the taste of players and uses many features that are currently popular with players. As a cooperative horror game with old-fashioned graphics and a charm all its own, it hits the heart of the times.

In addition, the game became a hit, especially among streamers and YouTubers, and can be found on virtually every platform. This has certainly also supported the rapid increase in sales.

Whether the time of publication also played a role in its great success can only be assumed. However, it could be obvious that many players use co-op games to maintain their contacts, especially in the cold season.
