The ergonomics of the Dyson Zone are inspired by a horse saddle, so that the weight is distributed on either side of the head and not on top. The set is quite imposing but the design and the chrome finish would probably not displease the (ex) Daft Punk. Remember that the company has patented this concept in early 2020.

For the audio part, Dyson says it used speakers at the neodymium whose qualities are recognized at the level of the transparency and linearity of sound. The manufacturer promises a “ precise left-right balance and significantly less distortion than can be detected by the human ear as well as optimal active noise reduction. So many assertions which will need to be verified, in particular with regard to the noise level of the filtration. The Dyson Zone will be marketed in 2023. Its price has not yet been announced but given Dyson’s high-end positioning, we can expect a high price.
Against pollution and viruses, Dyson is working on an air purifying headset

As the sale of masks explodes across the planet to protect against coronavirus, Dyson has filed a patent for an audio headset capable of purifying the surrounding air. The fans and the particle filters are placed in the headphones, and the assembly can propel more than two liters of purified air per second.
UK home appliance company Dyson, best known for its bagless vacuum cleaners, may launch portable air purifiers, according to a patent application filed with the UK Patent Office. The documents, which were released on January 29, were spotted by Bloomberg.
In addition to its famous vacuum cleaners, Dyson also produces air purifiers for the home or offices which are enjoying growing success in Asia. Faced with demand, the manufacturer seems to have decided to produce a portable version, integrated into a headphones supra- or circum-aural, which therefore covers the ears. Each of the two headphones incorporates a motor and a 35-40mm fan that spins at 12,000 revolutions per minute. Clearly, it’s hard to imagine serenely enjoying his music with such a roar.

Up to 2.4 liters per second of purified air
Each earphone incorporates a particulate filter, and thus filters up to 1.4 liters of air per second (2.8 liters in total). The listeners are connected by two arches, one which is positioned on the head, and the other which is placed in front of the mouth to convey the flow of air, delivering 2.4 liters per second of purified air.
The patent does not specify the type of filter used, but it might as well deal with the pollution that bacteria. Such a device could be very successful in China where pollution is endemicbut also in case ofepidemic as currently with coronavirus. However, it is important to note that this is only a patent, and therefore that this helmet could be a simple avenue of research without leading one day to a finalized product.
