Dutchwoman Femke Bol becomes second athlete in history to run

Dutch 400m hurdles world champion Femke Bol ran under 51 seconds at the La Chaux-de-Fonds meeting in Switzerland on Sunday 14 July, becoming the second athlete in history to achieve this feat twelve days before the start of the 2024 Olympic Games. Bol finished her 400m hurdles in 50.95, beating her own European record. She joins American Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone who ran in 50.65 on 30 June at the US Olympic trials in Eugene. On this occasion, she broke her own world record dating from 2022, and the 5th time she has erased the record in her discipline since June 2021. With this new mark established, Femke Bol, 24, is getting a little closer to the American, double Olympic champion in the 400m hurdles and the 4x400m relay, with whom she will be one of the big favorites in Paris.
