The Dutchman Olav Kooij (Visma-Lease a bike) won the first stage of Paris-Nice in a sprint on Sunday March 3 in Les Mureaux, in Yvelines. With his third victory of the season, the Dutch sprinter takes on the leader’s jersey for this first major stage race of the season in which the Belgian Remco Evenepoel and the Slovenian Primoz Roglic are the big favorites. The second stage will take the peloton from Thoiry to Montargis in the Loiret on Monday and once again seems promised to the sprinters before the first big meeting for the riders in the general classification during a team time trial on Tuesday in Auxerre.
