Dutchwoman Femke Bol assumed her status as the favorite to become world champion in the 400m hurdles on Thursday in Budapest, five days after her heavy fall in the final meters of the mixed 4x400m relay. At the age of 23, Bol, 2022 world vice-champion and 2021 Olympic bronze medalist, offers her first world title, in the absence of the queen of the 400m hurdles, the American Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who has deserted the event for the benefit of the 400m in 2023. The Dutchwoman won in 51 sec 70 ahead of the American Shamier Little (52”80) and the Jamaican Rushell Clayton (52”81).
