Dust transport occurred in the district center and higher parts of Alanya. While some vehicle windows were seen to be covered in dust, it was observed that some tradesmen’s products were also covered in dust.
PEOPLE IN THE RISK GROUP SHOULD WEAR A MASK WHEN GOING OUT
Speaking about dust transport, Alanya District Health Director Nadir Aldemir pointed out that the dust in question has some effects on human health. Stating that symptoms such as itching in the nose and nasal congestion may occur, Aldemir said, “Dust transport of North African origin has become very noticeable in our region these days. This dust, especially consisting of micro particles, can have some negative effects on human health. It can cause symptoms such as itching in the nose, nasal congestion, redness in the eyes, and watery eyes. It can also cause some allergic problems in the elderly, COPD, asthma patients and young children, whom we call the risk group. We recommend that those in the risk group wear a mask as much as possible when going out. Asthma and COPD patients can also use the medications they regularly use these days. Meteorology also states that the effect of this dust will decrease within a few days. “There will be no negative effects if they use the medication,” he said.
“ALL AROUND US AND THE VEHICLES ARE COVERED WITH DUST”
A citizen named Kemal Eras, who works as a tradesman in the district center, said, “There was a dense dust cloud that was said to have come from Africa. All around us and the vehicles were covered with dust. It was especially harmful to our tradesmen who had products outside. Bacteria and viruses in the dust may have been carried. It may cause harm to citizens and animals. We had to wipe the windows because of the dust. Especially vehicles, windows and house windows were dirty with dust. “There is a problem for the citizens,” he said.
