Every year warnings are issued to the public not to leave children, the elderly or animals in the car as it can quickly turn into a real death trap.
That’s how fast it goes before the car becomes a death trap
Every year, unfortunately, the police are forced to break lots of car windows to rescue those who are trapped or forgotten in the heat, the police say Goran Bolinder for TV4. According to him, it can go really quickly before the heat risks becoming life-threatening and the car turns into a death trap.
– It can go very quickly. If it’s around 25 degrees and you leave the car in the sunshine, it takes 20 minutes before it becomes life-threatening for a child or a dog, he tells TV4.
But what should you do if you see a small child or a dog trapped in a hot car in the middle of the summer months?
Well, according to Bolinder, it’s easiest to first check if the doors are open. If it turns out that the trapped person is not feeling well or is apathetic, you should call for help.
– But I recommend that you call the police first, he says and continues:
– You can always invoke emergency and break a side window to help the child or the dog, but then there must be a serious danger to the child’s or the dog’s life.
According to police officer Bolinder, you should always take a picture of the situation and alert the police.
