Jan Hage has been playing the organ of the Domkerk for about 12 years now. Next to the gate through which he has to walk to get to the organ, hangs a sign with the names of all 31 organists since 1418, with his being the last. “That is of course very special. The Dom is definitely one of the most important places for church music and for the organ in the Netherlands, it really is a top place. The organ is monumental, of great sound beauty, the classical and the romantic are combined. People say sometimes, it’s a kind of chameleon, this organ. Whether you play early music or Bach, romantic or contemporary music, it all sounds fantastic.”
