Armand Duplantis comes to Paris as one of the biggest favorites of the entire Olympic Games, all categories. Mondo will be a highlight for Swedes following the Olympics. The hope is that he will go to break a new world record.
Strong start to the Olympics
The 2024 Olympics in Paris have started very well for the Swedish Olympic squad with three medals in the first three days.
Here are all Sweden’s medals in the 2024 Olympics – so far
Athletics starts later than other sports
Those who follow the Olympics closely have noted that several sports with Swedish representation have started. For example, handball, beach volleyball and shooting sports have all started and the hope of medals is very much alive in the sports just mentioned. Some who haven’t started yet are the track and field athletes.
The athletics starts on August 1st with a 20 km walk, which means a medal chance immediately Perseus Karlstrom puts on the Swedish colors. For those who want to see Armand Duplantis, it will take until August 3 when the qualifiers apply.

The Swedish athletes competing in Paris live in the suburb of Saint-Denis in the built-up Olympic village. The track and field athletes are currently arriving at the facility. Someone who is expected to appear early is of course the walker Perseus Karlström. A rule that exists in the Olympic village is that only Olympians and accredited personnel may be present. This can cause it for Armand Duplantis and Desire Inglander who will not be allowed to live together in the Olympic village.

All Swedish Olympians have the opportunity to live in the Olympic village, which the vast majority choose to do. However, there are exceptional cases, including sports where the competitions take place some distance outside Paris. An example of a sport where the Olympians do not live in the Olympic village is shooting. Victor Lindgren and his Swedish shooting colleagues live in the same French town where the shooting competitions take place, Chateauroux.

The athletics in this summer’s Olympics will take place at Stade Fance in the French suburb of Saint Denis, i.e. in the same area as the Olympic Village. As a result, the Swedish representatives in the athletics disciplines will of course choose to live in the Olympic village, at least almost all of them. The big star Armand Duplantis has actually chosen to go against the grain and live somewhere else in Paris and therefore manage his own uploading away from his compatriots.
“Selected a different layout”
It’s the national team captain Kajsa Bergqvist who confirms that Mondo will not live with the rest of the squad in an interview with Tommy Åström in Max (formerly HBO and Discovery+) broadcast. Bergqvist says the following about Mondo’s decision:
– He has found another solution outside the village, to be able to prepare in the best way. That’s right, there are different practitioners that different schemes to solve their preparation for. He feels that he is getting better conditions and a different sense of calm. He has had this type of arrangement before, she says.
Kajsa Bergqvist fills in:
– He is a professional through and through, and I have no doubt about that. Then everyone has different needs and you have to respect that. I have incredible respect for Mondo’s process.
