Just a few days ago there was the first gameplay for Dune: Awakening. Of course, the question now arises as to when the survival MMO will finally appear. We checked with the developers themselves.
On March 4th, after a long wait, Funcom released a Dune: Awakening Direct in which they showed the first gameplay of the game. Accordingly, the question now arises as to what the release of Dune: Awakening is like – the first rumors were already there in 2019. Developer Funcom invited MeinMMO to an event on the occasion of the Direct, where we asked the developer specifically about the release plan have asked.

Dune: Awakening release date – This is what the developers say
Is there already a release date? There is currently no specific release date for Dune: Awakening known. It can be assumed that the game will be released in 2024. However, there is currently no guarantee for this.
What do the developers say? MeinMMO was invited by Funcom to an event about the new gameplay. During this time we were also able to ask the developers a few questions.
The game’s creative director Joel Bylos stated that the team wants to take all the time they need: they want to make the game they set out to make. And if it takes them longer, then so be it.
But we also wanted to know specifically whether we could say anything about the release plan now – for example, whether the game should be released in one or two years. Natascha Röösli, who is Senior PR Manager at Funcom, told us the following:
I mean, we’re not talking about waiting several years. But: That’s the games industry. So let’s knock on wood.
Like Joel [Bylos] already mentioned: We have already had some betas and they are in full swing and we are constantly adding new players. It really also depends on the feedback we get from the players. If they’re really happy with something we’re testing, that means we can move it forward to the next phase of development.
I mean, we have a lot of players now in the current beta that we just recently launched. So we’re in the process of expanding our testing and so far it’s looking good.
