Dune: Part Two, one of the biggest sci-fi blockbusters of recent years, is currently showing in cinemas. No wonder fans will soon want to check him out at home. But when will that be?
An official streaming start for the film is not yet known. Nevertheless, the presumed time window can be narrowed down: There are usually around three months between the cinema premiere and the first VoD evaluations. So it could still take two months, because Dune 2 only came out in Germany on February 29, 2024. The 4K home theater version will also be released in spring, namely on May 29th. The sci-fi hit can even be pre-ordered.
How was the streaming release of Dune: Part One?
Dune was released in local cinemas in September 2021 and was available as a VOD title on Amazon from November of the same year. Sky ticket then took over the streaming premiere in December 2021 within a subscription. The film can currently be found on Netflix.
In the USA, Dune: Part One was a special case. Because the film was released in the middle of the corona pandemic, the Warner parent company decided to release the film on the streaming service HBO Max one day before its American theatrical release. Filmmaker Denis Villeneuve wasn’t a fan of it at all and railed against the decision in an open letter, as Variety reported.

The sequel adapts the second half of the famous book by Frank Herbert. Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and his mother Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) begin a new life among the desert-dwelling Fremen. Some of them believe that the young man is the prophesied Messiah Lisan al-Gaib. However, Jessica knows how the influence of the Bene Gesserit order is responsible for the fanatical beliefs and takes advantage of the situation for herself.
