Formula 1 Brazil gp time trials will be held local time until Sunday morning.
Formula 1 qualifying sessions for the Brazilian GP will be held local time until Sunday morning, the International Automobile Federation FIA reported in message service X.
The reason for the move is the heavy rain that lashed the Interlagos track, after which the track was not in a drivable condition.
– The rain that has affected the last few hours has reduced visibility (on the track), and because of this, the decision to postpone was made. Part of the track has a lot of water, and the conditions are therefore unsafe, the FIA stated.
The FIA stressed that the safety of drivers, team staff, volunteers, officials and spectators is the most important thing.
– The decision on the start time of the time trials will be made as soon as possible.
Sunday’s competition should start at 2 pm local time, i.e. 7 pm Finnish time.
Earlier on Saturday, a sprint race was held in Interlagos, which was won by McLaren Lando Norris before his teammate Oscar Piastria. Red Bull fighting for the world championship with Norris Max Verstappen was fourth.
Norris narrowed Verstappen’s lead in World Championship points to 44 points.
