Drug trafficking charges laid against 76-year-old Norfolk man

A 76-year-old Norfolk County man is facing drug trafficking charges.

The Haldimand/Norfolk OPP Community Street Crime Unit stopped a vehicle on Queensway East in Simcoe at about 10:12 am on Wednesday.

During the interaction, police say officers had grounds to arrest the driver for drug-related offenses.

A quantity of drug paraphernalia and Canadian currency were seized following a search of the vehicle and driver.

At about 10:55 am the CSCU executed a search warrant at a Queensway East residence where quantities of fentanyl, hydromorphone, drug paraphernalia and Canadian currency were seized, said police.

The accused is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin); possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine; and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, June 18.
