Everyone has cholesterol, a yellowish-white wax-like lipid (fat) found in every cell of their body. Cholesterol keeps your cells and organs functioning properly. It also plays an important role in the production of hormones, vitamins and digestive juices. However, too much of it can cause worrisome health problems.
WHAT CAUSES HIGH CHOLESTEROL?
Often associated with saturated fat in the diet, high cholesterol is characterized by the presence of fatty deposits that contribute to plaque buildup in the arteries. High cholesterol may rarely present with obvious symptoms. That’s why it’s good to be on the lookout for mild symptoms. A change in your hair can signal high cholesterol caused by an unhealthy diet.
SYMPTOM OF HIGH CHOLESTEROL IN HAIR
A group of researchers from John Hopkins University found the devastating effects of high cholesterol on hair in their study.
The study, published in the Nature journal Scientific Reports, suggested that high cholesterol can cause both hair loss and graying of hair.
Those with a high-fat diet began to unexpectedly lose their hair and turn white.
