Drone strikes deep into Russia

Drones have struck industrial facilities in the cities of Yelabuga and Nizhnekamsk, according to the staff of Tatarstan’s top political leader Rustam Minnichanov.

In Jelabuga, two people are said to have been injured.

Ukraine has carried out many drone attacks against targets in Russia during the course of the war and on several occasions reached, among other things, St. Petersburg and the surrounding area in the north. But few drone strikes have been reported this far east.

Tatarstan is one of Russia’s 21 republics that at least in the past have had somewhat greater autonomy within the federation. Around four million people live in the oil-rich area, the majority of whom belong to the minority ethnic group Tatars.
