What is the best way to hunt a drone ? With another drone, of course! A YouTuber Lithuanian Aleksey Zaitsevsky posted on his channel a video of his Drone Interceptor, which was specifically designed to catch other drone.

The device is described as being particularly powerful for its weight and uses components from racing drones, which allows it to move quickly. Thanks to this advantage, it can take off at any speed and circle around an unknown drone in order to identify it. For this, it embeds a first camera on the side in order to transmit the image of the intruder.

A Kevlar net® to trap other drones

However, its creator did not imagine it only to be able to fly around other devices, but indeed to catch them. Thanks to a second camera, facing upwards, the Drone Interceptor can position itself directly under its target. The Operator then triggers the attack, and the four rotors detach and then swoop down. drone enemy. They deploy a Kevlar net® which wraps around the target and blocks its rotors. He then falls to the ground.

The body of the Drone Interceptor, which no longer has rotors, opens a parachute to slow its descent and emits a sound signal in order to be located more easily. The device is reusable, and designed to be thrown directly from its box. Aleksey Zaitsevsky has patented his invention, but has not indicated whether he intends to market it. Such a device could be useful for intercepting amateur drones that fly over airports and pose a risk to aircraft, as well as to capturing enemy drones in a war zone.
