Driver in Sarnia crash charged with being impaired

Brant County man 82 identified as homicide victim

A 28-year-old Petrolia resident has been charged with impaired driving following a two-vehicle crash Friday in Sarnia.

It’s alleged a vehicle caught fire after colliding with the rear of another vehicle at about 5:45 pm Friday at the corner of Fanshawe and Finch drives, Sarnia police said.

City firefighters responded and extinguished the fire, police said.

The driver of the vehicle that caught fire was arrested for impaired driving and it’s alleged testing found a level of alcohol in their system twice the legal limit, according to police.

“The collision did not result in any serious injuries but we wish to remind drivers that drinking and driving can end in catastrophic results with both property damage and loss of life,” police said in a statement.
