Geothermal energy may be a sustainable way to heat homes. De Bilt can be a suitable place because of the soil type. EBN has conducted research into whether the drillings pose a risk of earthquakes or subsidence. The analysis would show that this is not the case. For the time being it is all about research: it is being investigated whether the ground heat could be used. If this is possible, the heat is pumped elsewhere.
