Dresden Christian Concerts – something old something new

Organizers of the Dresden Christian Concerts are offering a mix of tried-and-true voices along with some new faces this summer.

“We continue the tradition started a few years ago to hold one evening for young families and people of all ages,” says a spokesperson for the organizing group, the Dresden & District Christian Ministerial Association. “Derrick Drover provides all-ages music on July 17.”

Five new performances will be featured from July 24 to Aug. 21.

The new season begins June 26 and continues every Sunday up to and including the Labor Day weekend.

The drive-in concert features 50 minutes of live music and a 10-minute message from an area pastor.

The concerts are free but an offering will be taken.

Concerts takes place on the property of Total Grain Systems/Sydenham Electric, at 1233 North St. in Dresden – the former Mid-County Ford.

All evenings start at 6:30 pm

This year’s lineup includes:

  • June 26 – The Chapelaires with message from Rev. Andrew Zomerman;
  • July 3 – One-A-Chord with Rev. Gord Tetley;
  • July 10 – 2 Fish with Rev. Rob Elka;
  • July 17 – All-Ages Night – Derrick Drover with Rev. Joe Krohn;
  • July 24 – The Vicounts with Rev. Terry Clyne;
  • July 31 – The Evangel Worship Team and Youth Band with Pastor Shane Fitch;
  • 7 – Dave Randall with Rev. Barry Kentner;
  • 14 – Hank & Janet Sonnenberg with Rev. Colin Paterson;
  • 21 – Latin Music Night (West Park Church London, Spanish) with Pastor Luis Rivas;
  • 28 – Faith Baptist Wallaceburg Praise Team with Rev. Wayne Hasson; and
  • 4 – Mercy with Rev. Andy Cornell

Christian music and messages have been presented in Dresden on summer evenings since the 1960s. The ministry is currently organized by the Dresden and District Christian Ministerial Association, which represents 13 local congregations.
