Dread Delusion is reminiscent of your favorite RPGs from the 2000s, already has 92% before release, is now on Steam

A new role-playing game on Steam should especially be kept in mind by players who miss their favorite RPGs from the 2000s. You can find out which game we mean here.

What game is this about? Dread Delusion is a new RPG on Steam. Developed by the studio Lovely Hellspace, the game has been in early access since June 2022. The full release with version 1.0 is scheduled to take place on May 14, 2024.

The game is inspired by Morrowind, for example, and not only players who miss their old RPGs from the 2000s should take a look at Dread Delusion. Fans of The Elder Scrolls or Bloodborne should also enjoy this new role-playing game.

In keeping with the release, a new trailer shows what you can expect in Dread Delusion:

What makes this game special? When you look at the trailer, you notice the first aspect that is reminiscent of earlier RPGs: the graphics. Of course, this doesn’t correspond to the newest of the newest or seems particularly technically exciting and overwhelming, but that was ultimately exactly the goal of the developers.

However, players should not be put off by these graphics. Because Dread Delusion convinced previous players above all with its concept and the special atmosphere. And just looking at the trailer makes you wonder what’s going on in this world with a constantly red sky, a huge and ominous asteroid and sometimes really strange creatures.

You explore this open world with your character, which you can adapt to your own play style, in the first-person perspective. In the trailer, for example, you can see how you can use spells to defend yourself against enemy attacks. With a little alchemy you should be able to transform rusty swords into a powerful, masterfully forged sword.

On your journey you have to find your way through the country’s flying continents and you can even travel through the area on your own airship.

Players finally want more from the game

What do the players say? Dread Delusion has been in Early Access for two years and has received 92% positive reviews since then. As already mentioned, players particularly praise the game’s harmonious atmosphere.

“The worst thing about this game is that there are no more of it,” writes one user in his review on Steam. Of course, that could change with the full release. Another user describes the game as an absolute fever dream, but a positive rating is probably only meant in the best possible way.

Another user sums up his experience with Dread Delusion with the following words: “It feels like playing a modernized PS1 game, with Elder Scrolls mechanics. It has a very unique style and a story that takes place in a broken world with ancient horror and hideous magic.” This user also gave his positive rating for exactly that.
