It has been more than a month since the M23 armed group – supported by Rwanda – occupies Goma, provincial capital of North Kivu in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). And, more than a month too, that the city’s financial institutions remain closed doors. Faced with the problem of the lack of monetary availability, the inhabitants seek and find alternative solutions, in particular by crossing the border to the twin city of Gisenyi, in Rwanda.
