In the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), fighting rages between the Congolese army, supported by local armed groups known as wazalendo, and the M23 armed group supported by Rwanda. The Congolese military authorities announced on Monday January 13 that they had recovered several villages from the hands of the M23, in the territory of Masisi, in North Kivu, on the border with the neighboring province of South Kivu.
