DRC: “If there are so many shipwrecks, it is due to the irresponsibility of the government”

DRC If there are so many shipwrecks it is due

At least thirty people died in the sinking of an overloaded wooden motorized boat, called a whaleboat, in the southwest of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), on the night of August 17 to 18, 2024. Nearly a week later, the former opposition MP for Mai-Ndombe province, Willy Bolio, is still furious. He believes that the State is fully responsible for this type of tragedy: “It is the one that gives authorizations to all these boats that do not navigate in good conditions.”
