The Congolese army presented on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, 31 people arrested in Beni, including several foreign fighters affiliated with the ADF, a former Ugandan rebellion that pledged allegiance to the Islamic State. Among the individuals arrested are fighters from Tanzania and Kenya. According to the army, their mission was to infiltrate the city of Beni, in North Kivu, to plant explosives there.
