About 200 soldiers sent by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) left the city of Goma, in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday, February 24. The rest of the South African, Malawite and Tanzanian contingents are still in their base in Goma, a city now controlled by the AFC/M23 group, supported by Rwanda. These SADC troops had been deployed, since December 2023 in the east of the DRC, in support of the Congolese army and to prevent the progression of the M23.
