Drastic deterioration in people’s economy

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

More and more Swedes think their finances have worsened, TV4 Nyheternas Sifo survey shows. Since last summer, the difference is big.

In June, Sifo, on behalf of TV4 Nyheterna, asked the question: “How is your financial situation today compared to a year ago?” 27 percent answered that it had gotten worse, while 31 percent thought it had gotten better.

When the same question was asked in December, the difference is palpable – as many as 58 percent now answer that their finances have gotten worse.

– It is worse, because the interest rate has gone up and everything is more expensive. So it’s a bit tougher now, says Anders Berg.

The deterioration in people’s private finances is also noticeable at pawnshop Sweden, which had a record year in 2022.

– We meet customers with everyday money problems that need to be solved. It is not always so dramatic, but it has become more expensive out there, most of it, says Peter Sandberg, head of Pantbanken Sweden.
