Dragoran Deck – This is how you use the strong dragon correctly

Comparatively easy to collect, the Dragoran Deck in Pokémon TCG Pocket is an interesting deck with a special feature. We have summarized for you how it is structured and what makes it special.

For most of the current decks that can be found in the tier list of the best decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket, you have to collect some very rare cards. Once you have found such a card, you usually have to be lucky enough to get a second copy of the card in order to be able to play the corresponding deck well.

The Dragoran deck deviates from this norm. All of the cards you need for this have a maximum rarity of ♢♢♢, which means you can collect them quite easily without having to use your pack points.

Of course, you can also use the full-art version of Dragoran. However, this has the same stats and abilities as the regular form of the card, which is much easier to obtain.

We at MeinMMO will show you how you should put the deck together, where you get the cards from and what special features this deck brings with it.

Dragoran Deck – You need these cards

There are 2 ways you can play this deck. However, they only differ minimally and are essentially identical. For the first variant you need the following cards:

  • 2x Dratini (♢)
  • 2x Dragoon (♢♢)
  • 2x Dragoran (♢♢♢)
  • 2x Snomnom (♢)
  • 2x Mottineva (♢♢)
  • 2x Pokéball
  • 2x X Initiative
  • 2x Misty (♢♢)
  • 2x Professor’s Research
  • 2x Sabrina (♢♢)
  • How is the deck played? The core of this deck is developing and supplying Dragoran with energies so you can attack with this card. Since Dragoran is a level 2 card and also requires 4 energy, this process can take a few rounds.

Therefore, you first play Snomnom or ideally Mottineva. With its attack you can force the opposing Pokémon into the sleep state, giving it only a 50/50 chance of attacking you in the next turn. This can give you valuable time that you need for Dragoran.

If you have a finished Dragoran on the bench, switch it to the active position and attack with it. Dragoran not only has a whopping 160 HP, with which he can survive even a regular “Psycho Drive” from Mewtwo ex, but also distributes 50 damage 4 times among the opposing Pokémon.

What is special about the deck? While Dragoran can deal a total of 4 times 50 damage per round and thus comes to a whopping 200 damage per round, there is a special feature about this card.

While you normally attack your opponent’s active Pokémon with one attack, with Dragoran it is random to which of your opponent’s cards the 50 points of damage are distributed.

This means you can also defeat Pokémon that are on your opponent’s bench. At the same time, it can also happen that all 4 of your opponent’s Pokémon are attacked in one round and none of them are defeated if they still have remaining HP.

You also need to carry 2 types of energy cards for this deck. Dragoran requires both Electric and Water energy to attack.

Where do I get the cards from? You can get Dratini and his two evolutions in the Mewtwo packs. You can only find Sabrina in the Charizard packs and Misty only in the Pikachu pack. While you can draw Snomnom and Mottineva in all 3 booster packs, the remaining cards can be purchased in the shop.

What does the alternative variant of the deck look like? You can also play a slightly modified version of this deck. To do this, exchange the following cards:

  • Snomnom by Smogon
  • Mottineva through smogmog
  • Misty by Koga
  • The core idea of the deck is the same here, except that you use Smogmog with its ability until you finish Dragoran, and then swap the two monsters.

Since this deck doesn’t plan for Darkness Energy, Smogmog can’t attack directly. However, you can use its ability to poison your opponent’s active Pokémon every turn.

You can find Smogon, Smogmog and Koga in the Mewtwo packs.

What weakness does the deck have? Dragoran itself has no weakness, so there is no type that can give this card additional damage with one attack.

The disadvantage of this deck, however, is the long preparation you need to fully develop Dragoran and supply it with energy cards.

The fact that you can’t actively choose which Pokémon you want to attack with Dragoran and therefore involves a fair amount of chance can be seen as a disadvantage of this deck.

In addition to the Dragoran Deck, there are a few other decks that you can use in Pokémon TCG Pocket if you have the right cards. One of the currently strongest and most popular is based on one of the most iconic characters from the Pokémon franchise: Pikachu ex Deck – This is how you build one of the best decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket.
