It was in February that witnesses in Kiruna saw a car driving with a dog tied to one of the back doors.
There were traces of blood in the snow and the dog had to be euthanized because it was so badly injured. The two men in the car denied wrongdoing and said it was all an accident.
Both were convicted of animal cruelty, but one man has now had his sentence reduced by the Court of Appeal, reports SVT Norrbotten.
The Court of Appeal states that he did not intend to harm the dog, but that the crime was committed out of gross negligence.
Instead of forensic psychiatric care, the man is sentenced to pay daily fines totaling SEK 7,000.
