The YouTube streamer Guy “Dr. Disrespect” Beahm comments on Call of Duty Warzone and Modern Warfare 3. He berates Activision Blizzard for some of the decisions they make in the games. The 42-year-old gaming influencer believes they are hypocritical idiots.
This is the statement of Dr. Disrespect: Dr. Disrespect wrote on Twitter on April 13th:
Activision is pushing hookahs, marijuana, ‘get high’ levels, drugs and $100 camos onto gamers…
…but they remove Nickmercs’ skin because he said ‘leave the kids alone’.
Activision is run by a bunch of idiots. The biggest suits and hypocrites in the industry.

Get High event in Call of Duty
What does he mean when they say they promote pot smoking? A new event is currently underway in Call of Duty, the “Warzone High Trip” event.
The “High Trip” event allows players to collect “gummies” to receive power-ups. These “gummies” are cannabis-containing gummy bears that are consumed in the United States instead of smoking joints. It’s obviously better for the respiratory system.
The event started on April 10th and ends on April 20th. “4/20” is a term from cannabis culture – this can mean April 20th and the time 20 past 4. The term goes back to a story from the 70s.
Only those who spend a lot of money get special items in CoD
What does he mean about the $100 camos? Prices in Call of Duty seem to be out of control lately. We have already reported on the melee weapon for €80 on MeinMMO.
There was also a $100 “exclusive camouflage pattern for Call of Duty”, the “Gold Cheetah” you only get if you spend $100.
For both items, it’s not like you pay $100 directly and get the respective item in return, but rather you buy other items worth $80 or $100 and then get the respective item on top. But that shouldn’t sound like a defense. They are business methods that go towards “dark patterns”.
Call of Duty removes skin after controversial comments
What does he mean by the Nickmercs skin? The streamer Nickmercs got its own skin in Call of Duty in 2023. However, this skin for €20 was removed by Activision Blizzard.
Nickmercs commented critically on the situation in front of a school on Twitter in June 2023. He didn’t want things like homosexuality to be discussed in schools. They “should leave children alone,” he said at a demonstration at a school for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community.
The streamer later explained that what he meant was that educating children should be left to the parents. Teachers or a school should not talk “about these things.” He and his wife wanted to talk about “these things” with their children.
Dr. Disrespect had already shown solidarity with Nickmercs a year ago.
Break between Dr. Disrespect and his former employer
This is what lies behind it: It appears that Activision Blizzard’s direction does not align with Dr. Disrespect tolerates. He’s more of a whiskey man than a cannabis dude.
There is also another, personal dimension: Dr. Disrespect used to work on Call of Duty himself and was closely associated with the game for years.
Since his departure from Twitch, however, there seems to have been a rift between him and Activision Blizzard because he has not been invited to events since then and he has repeatedly harshly criticized Activision Blizzard’s management. Especially liked as “hypocritical.”
He accuses Activision Blizzard of having lost contact with the base. The accusation resonates: If you knew what players really want, you would enter into a partnership with me.
Objectively, it is certainly true that Activision Blizzard is pro-cannabis with the event. The situation surrounding Nickmercs is not so clear that one could say that Activision Blizzard is positioning itself “contra conservatives”.
When it came to Nickmercs’ statements, many people originally thought his comments were transphobic, until he clarified them in more detail.
