Els Rijke sees dozens of new faces today at a special climbing course in the forest of Amelisweerd. Rijke is part of the ‘Amelisweerd not asphalted’ action group and has been campaigning against tree felling for years. “Last year it seemed for a while that the forest was safe. But a few weeks ago, Minister Harbers said that he wants to further investigate the widening of the A27. So that’s why we are immediately ready to protect the forest.”
