Chickens, rabbits and cats. Since last summer, several animals have disappeared around Hisingsparken in Gothenburg, writes Göteborgs-Posten. A suspected thief has been caught on film and the 4H farm in the area is guarded around the clock.

– The doors to the henhouse, the henhouse and the greenhouse were open. There were also footprints in the beds in the greenhouse. It is not an animal that has done this, says Kristiina Tyni, who got rid of the chickens Lollo and Pippi in November.

Kättilsröd’s 4H farm has lost around ten animals and spent nearly 70,000 kroner on strengthening security with surveillance cameras, floodlights and locks. In addition, you have extra salary costs of over SEK 100,000 to have staff on site around the clock.

– It costs us a lot, but we cannot let it continue, says operations manager Kicki Åslund.

She has been in contact with other animal owners in the area and estimates that around 50 animals, perhaps more, have been stolen since last summer.

On several of the surveillance videos from the 4H farm, a person reappears and the police have also found tools at the scene which have been sent for DNA analysis. At the beginning of November, a person was served with suspicion for the theft of a rabbit on the farm.
