Dozens dead in Hurricane Helene USA News in brief

US President Joe Biden said on Friday afternoon on the messaging service X that he had accepted the request for emergency aid from the states in the region.

In the United States, at least 35 people have died as a result of Hurricane Helene, reports news agency AP. The deaths occurred in a total of four states.

Helene, which has strengthened into a Category 4 hurricane, made landfall on the Florida coast late Thursday local time, with maximum sustained winds of 225 kilometers per hour. After reaching the mainland, Helene became weaker.

As of Friday morning local time, more than four million homes and businesses were without power in the states of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

President of the United States Joe Biden said the message service during the day on Friday in X having accepted the request for emergency aid from the states in the region and sending 1,500 emergency workers to the region.
