Down after up on Asian stock markets

Monday’s lift also came from American stock exchanges reacting positively to reduced inflationary pressure and reduced risk of interest rate increases. But after the holiday closed on Monday in the USA, there were no new trends to follow.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 was down 0.3 percent and the broader Topix index was down 0.4 percent just before lunch.

In China, the Shanghai composite index was at minus 0.5 percent, while the Shenzen composite index was down 0.4 percent.

Hong Kong’s Hang Sen was at minus 0.8 percent. It is sharply down compared to yesterday’s rise of a few percent.
