The head coach of the German football club Borussia Dortmund Edin Terzic has resigned from his position, informs Dortmund on its website. The 41-year-old coach himself was active in the matter of breaking the contract, and in the end the club accepted the head coach’s decision.
– It is incredibly painful to say this to all the yellow and black fans, but today I am leaving Borussia Dortmund. It was a huge honor to win the German Cup and lead this great club to the Champions League final, Terzic recalls in Dortmund’s press release.
Terzic led the German club to the Champions League final last season. In the final, Dortmund lost to Real Madrid 2–0. In addition to the place in the final, a big achievement during Dortmund’s tenure was winning the German Cup.
The German-Croatian Terzic reveals in the press release that after the final match of the Champions League, he wanted to meet the top management of the team.
– I feel that the new era of the club should start with a new man on the side of the field. Everyone close to me knows that this decision has been very difficult for me over the past few weeks, but after intensive discussions, my bottom line has not changed.
Terzic’s successor is not yet known.
