The highlight of the exhibition in Utrecht was the speedometer of the locomotive of the express train that caused the accident. It turned out to be in the possession of the son of the engineer who investigated the accident on behalf of NS. That speedometer stopped at exactly 107 kilometers per hour, probably the speed the train was traveling at the moment of impact. If something like this comes to the surface, they will be very happy with it in Harmelen, says Vossen. But it can also be a lot smaller. “A hat, prayer cards, everything is allowed. All objects and stories that have something to do with the train disaster or say something about it.”
