Dordogne caves and cave bears

The Dordogne department is part of the Aquitaine region. The Dordogne is a river that originates at Puy de Sancy and flows into the Garonne after crossing the Dordogne department and part of the Gironde. The Dordogne valley is classified as a land of art and history.

The Dordogne merges with the Garonne at theestuary of the Gironde, at the Bec d’Ambès. It is sometimes referred to as River if we consider that the Gironde is an estuary common to the Garonne and the Dordogne.
