Doornse Golf Club is in danger of having to close due to flex housing: ‘Other clubs are not interested in old members’

Doornse Golf Club is in danger of having to close

Egon Alflen (70) has made a hole-in-one eight or nine times in his career. This used to mean automatically treating everyone in the clubhouse with champagne, but later it became a beer or a bitterbal. At other clubs, golfers can insure themselves for a treat after a hole-in-one. But because the courses in Doorn are relatively short, the hole-in-one risk is too high for the insurer.
