DOOM Halo and Batman Arkham developers unite in new studio

Experienced names who have worked in DOOM, Halo and Batman Arkham games will develop story-oriented action games in a new studio under NetEase.

Experienced industry veterans who have worked on DOOM (2016), Halo Infinite and Batman Arkham games in the past are now gathering in a new studio under NetEase. The new studio will develop story-based AAA action games and we’re already excited…

NetEase builds new Jar of Sparks studio

Jar of Sparks where the team is like the champions league establishment of the studio announced. Less than two months after Halo Infinite head of design Jerry Hook left the 343 Industries team, Hook will now become CEO of the studio. Also on the team will be Paul Crocker, chief narrative director of the Batman: Arkham trilogy, and Greg Stone, who was involved in the production of the 2016 version of DOOM.

Hook says the studio’s mission is to “create the next generation of narrative-driven action games in a new world.” “We will develop games that are fun to play with a team of creative freedom to innovate and realize their dreams,” he wrote on Twitter. The studio will operate remotely/hybridly for now and they are considering incorporating employees from around the world into their teams. Hook also made the following statement:

“We’ve developed games for some of the biggest companies in the gaming world and now it’s time to launch our own personal project. We want to develop something new, innovative and explosive.”

It may take an estimated 3-4 years for the Jar of Sparks studio to release its first game. At the same time, the productions they develop will not be in the “live service” category. So we can say that they will not work on multiplayer games. They say there’s no need to take such risks because the studio is so new.
