Dont want to be spotted or disturbed when you check

Don’t want to be spotted or disturbed when you check your messages on WhatsApp? A simple setting can allow you to use messaging without being seen by your contacts, or even just some.

You probably don’t realize it, but your loved ones and complete strangers can spy on you through WhatsApp. Indeed, even if instant messaging is known for its high level of security, it still provides them with a certain amount of information about you by default. They can find out what time you logged in, whether or not you have read their messages, whether you are currently online, etc. It doesn’t take much for some people to turn into real voyeurs – stalkers, as they are nicknamed in the world of social networks – without you realizing it!

Not to mention that you may simply need a little privacy to quietly check your messages, without everyone knowing about your connection! Likewise, it is sometimes difficult to reject a contact who wants to engage in a live conversation, or not to respond to a friend who wrote to you when you do not have the time or do not want to respond… But Meta, the parent company of the application, fortunately planned this! And you can very easily hide your presence in messaging with a few quick and easy settings.

Until some time ago, it was possible to hide the “Seen” mention, which appears in blue at the bottom of the last message of each conversation, to prevent your interlocutors from knowing the day and time of your last connection . but although practical, this function quickly showed its limits. Since then, WhatsApp has revised the privacy functions of its application by adding new settings. The app now has a section entirely dedicated to the visibility of your eyt connections, simply called Online Presence.

To access it, open the application settings by tapping the three small dots at the top right of the screen, then go to the Confidentiality section. Then choose the Online presence section, where you will only have to check the options that suit you. If you ever want to be completely invisible on WhatsApp, we advise you to select Nobody in the section Who can see my last online presencethen Same as last online presence in the section Who can see when I’m online. But you can also choose other options, even selecting particular contacts to avoid being seen only by certain people. Practical for avoiding too indiscreet contacts, or friends who jump on you to chat as soon as they see you online!

Likewise, you can uncheck the read receipt, which is located in the Privacy section, to be sure not to betray yourself when you have read a message. But be careful, with these options activated, you too will not see whether your interlocutors are connected or not and whether they have read your messages! Yes, it’s the principle of reciprocity: you won’t see other people’s connections if you don’t want to be seen.
